Voicenotes Alternative: Slax Note — Personal Voice Notes With Shareable Prompts
Voicenotes vs Slax Note — both have custom Prompts, but Slax Note's are shareable with other users. Voicenotes leads with Meetings; Slax Note stays focused on personal notes. Lower price.
Voicenotes used to be the simple “speak first, organize later” voice-notes app. In 2026 the homepage now reads “Voicenotes Meetings — Record, transcribe, and get instant meeting reports.” The original personal-notes product still exists as the Memos sub-product (alongside Meetings and Dictation), but it’s no longer the front door.
If you came to Voicenotes for personal voice notes and you don’t actually take meeting notes, that rebrand probably tells you something.
Slax Note made a different bet. We stayed focused on personal voice notes, and we built our custom Prompts to be shareable — write your own, send it to a friend (or a teammate, or a fellow 公众号 writer) so they can use it too. One recording, many shapes — shaped by Prompts you and your friends wrote.

What Voicenotes Does Well
Let’s be honest. The Voicenotes product (now actually three products under one brand: Meetings, Dictation, Memos) is impressive in scope.
What stands out:
- Ask AI across your full history. Pro’s “Your conversations stay searchable forever” is a real second-brain promise
- Wide platform coverage. macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, watchOS, Wear OS, Chrome extension, web. More platforms than most competitors in the category
- Mixed-language auto-detection — switch mid-sentence, no setup
- Transcription scope — 60+ languages on the site, more in store listings
- “Create / AI Creations” — 8 built-in presets (summary, to-do list, email, message, Meeting Report, etc.) plus a Custom prompt input. Saved Prompts get Custom and Saved tabs
- Pro integrations — Zapier, Obsidian, Notion, Claude, ChatGPT out of the box
- Meeting recording with instant reports — if you actually take meeting notes, that’s the headline feature
- Dictation cleanup — automatic removal of filler words and false starts
If your work involves meetings and you want one tool that handles meetings + personal notes + dictation under one subscription, Voicenotes is a strong pick.
Where Slax Note Goes Different
Voicenotes broadened to cover meetings + dictation + memos + integrations. Slax Note stayed focused on personal voice notes — and made one specific bet that Voicenotes didn’t make.
Prompts you can send to other people
Both products let you write custom Prompts. Voicenotes’ Saved Prompts live in your own account — you can edit, rename, delete them, but they don’t leave your account.
Slax Note’s Prompts are shareable. You write one — “Turn this into a 公众号 opening paragraph in my voice” — and you can send it to a friend, a teammate, or another 公众号 writer. They can use it too.
If you write inside a small group of people who keep saying “can you send me your prompt?”, that’s the workflow we built.
We don’t do meetings
Voicenotes’ homepage now leads with Meetings. Memos is one of three sub-products.
Slax Note doesn’t do meetings. We don’t do speaker separation, calendar integration, or attendee detection. If meetings are your actual job, Voicenotes (or Otter, Granola, Fireflies, tl;dv) is the better tool — we’d rather tell you that than pretend we compete.
What we do is personal voice notes — ideas while walking, journal-style reflections, drafts you want to publish — shaped by Prompts you (or your friends) wrote.
Pricing
Voicenotes’ individual plan (per iOS IAP) is $14.99/month or $89.99/year ($99.99 standard, $89.99 promo). They also have a Team plan at $9/member/month (per official help center). The lifetime “Believer” tier is retired.
Slax Note Pro is $4.99/month or $49.99/year.
Different products, so price alone isn’t the right frame. But if you don’t need meeting recording or Pro-tier integrations, you’re paying for a lot of capability you won’t use.
“Voicenotes is a three-product suite that includes meetings. Slax Note is a focused personal voice-notes app with shareable Prompts.”
How we think about this
Two beliefs shape Slax Note. Both are direct contrasts with where Voicenotes went in 2026.
Personal first, not meetings. Meeting tools pull a product toward speaker separation, calendar integration, attendee detection, enterprise pricing. Each pulls focus away from the person walking down the street with an idea. Voicenotes added all of that and made it the front door. We deliberately didn’t. Slax Note is for the person, not the meeting room.
Built to be here in five years, growing with you. The point of voice notes isn’t today’s recording. It’s what your library looks like after three years of recordings — the walk-the-dog idea from last March that helps you write something today, the half-thought from a year ago that turns out to be the seed of next month’s project. So we keep the product small, the team lean, the runway long. We use this ourselves every day, which is the only honest reason to believe it’ll still be here when you need it.
What Slax Note Doesn’t Have Yet
We’d rather you switch with both eyes open. What Voicenotes does today that we don’t:
- Meeting recording + reports — entirely outside our scope. We don’t do meetings
- Ask AI across your full history — our search is basic. If “search everything I’ve ever recorded” is your main job, Voicenotes is currently better
- macOS, Windows, Apple Watch, Wear OS, Chrome extension — we have iOS, Android, and the web. That’s it
- Zapier / Obsidian / Notion / Claude / ChatGPT integrations — not built. Sharing happens inside the app via share-to
- Long recordings — we cap each recording at 30 minutes. Voicenotes’ Free Basic alone allows 1-hour meetings
- Dictation as a separate product with filler-word cleanup
If any of those are core, stay with Voicenotes.
Other Alternatives We Considered

- Braintoss — Pure capture-to-inbox at $2.99 / $3.49 one-time. See comparison →
- Otter / Granola / Fireflies / tl;dv — If meetings are your actual job, these are dedicated meeting-notes tools
